Hindraf - some thoughts
By YeinJee
Leaders arrested
The police has arrested three key leaders behind the Hindu Rights Action Force (Hindraf) - lawyers P Uthayakumar, P Waythamoorthy and V Ganapathy Rao, just as the movement is preparing for a mass rally this Sunday (Nov 25). [Malaysiakini]
Klang Valley folks should have noticed the unusual jam in and around KL for the past 2 days. Police has set up roadblocks, albeit prematurely, to cope with the potential confrontation before the rally. Seems like they has just up their ante by arresting the leaders of Hindraf.
About Hindraf and the rally
Not many Malaysians beside the Hindu community are paying attention to Hindraf… that’s a sad fact. After 50 years of independence, Malaysians are not giving much damn about the welfare of other races.
Hindraf is planning a gathering outside of British High Commission at Jalan Ampang on Sunday to submit a petition with 100,000 signatures to Queen Elizabeth II to appoint a Queen’s Counsel to represent the Indian community in a class action suit against the British government for bringing Indians as labourers to the then Malaya and thereafter exploiting them.
The suit, filed at the Royal Courts of Justice in London by Hindraf chief P. Wathyamoorthy in August, sought compensation of up to US$4 trillion (RM13.5 trillion), or US$1 million (RM3.4 million) for every Indian in Malaysia.
The petition and suit might sound ridiculous; people have been teasing the real motive behind the rally. Regardless, I am not going to question the possible personal agenda in Hindraf organization… I chose to believe that they want to seek international (and Malaysians’) attention on the problem the Indian society is facing in Malaysia.
I am not a big fan of public rally or demonstration, but I am not going to deny the rights of others to voice their thoughts. Besides, who would want to bath under the torching sun or soak in the rain to demonstrate if their voices are heard in a more comfortable way? People go to the streets because they don’t have much choice, not for fun.
For whatever cause it is… don’t bring minors to a demonstration. One thing that I absolute distaste during the BERSIH rally is seeing minors involved.
Street demo is always unpredictable; the crowd might go wild, or the police might become irrational in handling situations. Violent confrontation might happen… it’s not safe to bring your young children to a demo. Forget about education from young age, that’s bull sh!t… there are better ways teaching children about democracy, human rights or whatever.

RACIST RACIAL-RELIGIOUS POLITICS - A DIVIDE & RULE STRATEGY OF THE MALAYSIAN GOVERNMENT!!
This corrupted, coward and vicious Malaysian government is so afraid of ordinary people especially from the working class, expressing their discontent and resistance through democratic rights and means, that include through peaceful protests. The main ruling party UMNO’s elite/capitalist class of Malay leaders who professed falsely to be devoted Islamic followers have indeed hijacked the religion so as to be barbaric, uncivilized and abusers of human rights! Being a Malay myself, I’ve only contempt for this elite/capitalist class of Malay leaders who actually manipulate racial-religious capitalist ideology of “Ketuanan Melayu” i.e. Malay-Islamic racial-religious (male) supremacy. To brainwash the (imaginary) united Malay/Islamic communities especially from the mostly brainwashed Malay/Islamic masses, to go on supporting them uncritically despite of these leaders’ betrayal to the whole Malay civilization and Islamic religion! And ashamedly, despite of my high education but due to my ignorance and uncritical consciousness and activism, I myself fell into the trap of such brainwashing strategy of defending such ideologically dogmatic racial-religious supremacy out of a sense of false loyalty and patriotism almost my whole life (thus this is why we need to learn and educate ourselves with critical-thinking education throughout our whole life in order to be true human beings).
Therefore, the whole Malaysian (and hopefully, global) communities need to move towards true socialist politics based on true Marxism - see www.marxism.com (not pseudo ones like Maoism, Stalinism, Pol Pot-ism, Milosevic-ism and so on), to fight for true social justice for the poor and oppressed from any background, ABOVE race, religion, gender and nation-hood. That’s where loyalty and patriotism need to be for - that is for true social justice consciousness and activism that encompass true equality, true freedom and other universal and secular-based fundamental human rights principles.
Hopefully, the opposition parties in Malaysia such as the racial- religious Hindu based new party HINDRAF, despite of its good intentions, will also move away from such divisive racial-religious politics towards such socialist one; in order to fight for the oppressed and poor Indian communities. And to fight against the real enemy - the corrupted and greedy criminals of politicians from the ruling elite and capitalist class, be it from UMNO (Malay party), MCA (Chinese party), MIC (Indian party) and so on, although UMNO leaders are the main and most deceitful culprits. That is what and where the opposition parties in Malaysia need to be moving towards, in the new era of Malaysian politics, based fundamentally on true social justice consciousness and activism especially for the poor and oppressed from all backgrounds; and for the preservation of our natural environment. And hopefully, where opposition parties globally also need to be heading towards, especially against the extremely corrupted and vicious “Third World” governments and ruling elite/capitalist class.

I can accept the motive of BERSIH demonstration but for this it looks rediculous and STUPID. You think the Indian are better off if their ancestor stay in India. If they want to fight for Indian right, say so, don’t put up such stupid excuses. These are bunch of stupid moron Indians lawyers who got nothing better to do.
TQ Noor Aza for your understanding on how an ordinary malaysian indian feels. One can only understand how oppressed in one’s rights in malaysia when one is born as indian(or at least as minority). Stupid comments like by ng cheong keat will never ever understand because i believe he is in comfortable zone and has no time to think abt his rights, he will feel the same only when he is pushed to a corner and challenged of his rights by the ruling umno morons.
Also, chinese are no any better than these morons especially when it comes to employment with their so famous ‘Chinese preferred’ adverts. What, do you not think malays & indians do not have qualification to be selected for jobs in a stupid chinese organisation?
Please do not simply say things as needed as only the affected feels the pain. I’m not against muslims at all because they are nice people, but are extremely against UMNO & MIC idiot morons.
Mr Ng Cheong Keat… Yes we would have been better of if our ancestors had stayed in India and for your information the indians who had migrated from India to other countries are much better of than us in Malaysia.
Atleast our country, India, is truly democratic. Minorities, muslims, christians, sikhs, etc enjoy equal, if not better, rights as the Hindus. We have press freedom too. “Malaysia truly Asia” or not but definitely “Malaysia falsely Democratic”. Firstly learn to respect every religion. In a true democratic country every religion should be equal in front of Law. If religious courts are above Judiciary you can’t be a multicultural country. Shame to civilization.
Mr.ng cheong keat, wait till they start demolishing chinese temples and monuments. then you will realise the silent plea the whole community has been giving out for tens of years. what is the use of claiming to be a multi religious and multi ethnic community when even the most sensitive issue like a temple can be rubbled down for “development”. yeah right!! i bet that piece of land will be left untouched for the next couple of years to come. and if you intend to follow things much closely, guess that is when you will know for sure who is doing what and who has got better things to do. the rally is a simple gesture of the indians demanding their rights in what our leaders claim to be everyones nation. everyone seems to be coming out saying things and stuff, but those three lawyers ur talking about are the ones walking the walk and risking themselves for two million others. if we are all so called malaysians, we would individually respect what each other malaysion is doing whether its racially or religiously tuned.
ng cheong keat…..its not ridiculous and stupid….u should listen to the moron chinese DAP opposition in the parliment….toothless tigers talking rhethoric…..whatever they say wont get them anywhere….so they fool around…..same thing her….this is politics in case u forgot my dear…the stupid tactics for our play….so just shut up if u have nothing contructive to say….
chong keat, until when must we condone this double standards imposed on us? Why cant non bumis fight for their rights? I believe that there r a lot of issues in malaysia which need to be highlighted and these guys hopefully do it
Do we also need to hold a protest against chinese owned companies who shamelessly advertise job vacancies that read towards the end “Chinese prefered” or “Mandarin required” when the scope of work does not require one to know mandarin. Of course later followed by Bumi only ads. Can some one tell me where do we send the petition to.
Just a few days ago a well qualified indian professional lady working for a european company said that she has been trying to apply for Jobs in Penang through job agencies because she is getting to married to a gentleman there, She got a rude awakening when the employment agency said that she is the best qualified person for the job but the company wants a Chinese. This is not uncommon for Indians who get bashed up from both sides.
These are the very things that the Malays were concerned about and wanted to protect themselves against.
Can you imagine what they Chinese Businessmen did to other races when they were in full control of the economy before the 1969. When they controlled the source ( wholesale and other industries) and never let anyone else in. Untill today this is prevalent in Shopping Malls leasing out outlets or Supermarkets leasing out shelf space and wholesellers supplying retailers. This is the very fact that led to NEP and quota systems.
Squeezed in between without economic might of the Chinese and Political Power of the Malays the Indian labourers have taken their plight to the streets.
Without affirmative government effort it is going to be difficult to uplift many of them. There is a growing gap between the well bred/heeled Indians and the working class.
But all is not well with the Indians too. They must also be mindlfull overall that they have not shown good academic performance after obtaining seats in the Universities. There have been a lot of drop outs.
( i dont know the reason).
If they mobilise themselves properly they can turn temples into cultural and educational institutions but that doesnt seem to be happening. Temples are merely funcitioning as a place for rituals and emotional fullfiment.
A lot of Indians also idle in front of TV after work and skip work in the name of functions and rituals. In Fact spare time can be used for creating wealth.
Most qualified and employable Indians seem to be from ethnic Malayalee or SriLankan descent because their parents tend to have better education or come from families practicing good principles of life.
This is still a land of opportunity no matter how many walls are erected in front of us. There is still a lot of things an individual can do to create wealth for himslef/herself and the country without the help of the government.
The problem is to raise the conscience of the backward class, we need to mobilise funds and organise social machinery. And thats why they need the support of the government.
The government has everything to gain by helping them. If these stock of people has helped plant the country with oil palm and rubber which has become our economic buffer come what may, they can still benefit country if equipped and mobilised in the right direction.
One last request to Chinese businessmen and managers please help build an equitable society. You dont need to convert to christianity or buddhism or islam to treat people equally.
Racism is a great evil and we Asians are more racist then westerners.
Our communal political make up in Malaysia has fueled it further.
Everyone is guilty of racism Chinese, Indians and ..
When all of us can get over this Then everything will fall in its place. No more NEP, NO More Quota System, No more Matriculation, No More Bumi Putra Only, No More Chinese Preferred.

Yes, the Indian should protest and say it loud what you all are not statified with. Don’t blamed the British for bringing the Indian to Malaysia. Why don’t you blame your ancestor for choosing the wrong country to migrate? Just go and demonstrate that the government ill treated the Indian and the chinese don’t hire Indian but why ask 1 million for each Indian, sound rediculous isn’t it? Say it loud right to the point. Make the British your friend to pressure the Malaysian government, not putting up this stupid excuse.
I think and sure that cheong keat is living in his own world. Frog under coconut shell. Don’t only see yourself…open widely your eyes to see what’s happening around you atleast for first hand before looking toward world.
If you ’senseless’..i cant do anything. But don’t apply your senselessness to others. That’s ‘STUPID’.
I think chinese would not be stupid to sue the chinese gov for compensation for poor condition in those time to force the chinese ancestor to migrate to Malaysia. If I were to protest, I would protest why the government ill treated me as 2nd class citizen NOT blaming why my ancestor was brought to this country. Why can’t the Indian protest to the government or sending a petition again to Agung again. I just don’t understand how they can achieve anything by going to British, hope to get rich by 1 million for each person?
ng cheong keat its not the money 9for Chinese yes its all about the money). you really need to see the big picture. its a slap for the Mysian govt for illtreating the indians. no way the British is gonna pay us. 100 year old temple demolished. would you stand for it if chinese temple were demolished. there is only one medical sit for the indian population in Mysiaan University. many memorandums were sent to gove but no response. Get it in to your tiny bird brain head its not the money the suit is a slap to the 5o year old BN govt
The Chinese were free passage migrants, many left China on their own accord for survival. But the indians here were largely indentured labourers.( meaning forcibly recruited labourers)
For enlightenment:There were initially two classes of migrants from India i.e 1) Indentured labourers meaning forcibly recruited labourers by the British whom are a little bit better than slaves. They were the alternative to slaves when slavery was abolished. Most of this indentured labourers were brought to malaysia to work the plantations without their consent. They were also sent to Surinam, British Guyana and other countries. The thing is they did not come here on their own accord like how most Chinese people came.
The second type of Indian is Free passage migrant who have been traveling to southeast asia for along time for trade purposes. They first established domestic funding in their host countries like the Chettiars ( there are a lot of articles on this in the internet). Massive number of Chettiars were expelled from Burma when the military junta took over. Their properties including shops were nationalised or confiscated. ost wealth owned by Indians left the country during the Burmese nationalisation.
A large portion of this free passage migrants also went to African countries such as kenya, Sout Africa, Uganda and later on to Britain when they were expeeled from there. If you have been to London you will know why Laxmi Mittal is the richest man there ( 4th richest in the world). There has been good relationship between Indians and the British I would say. Sporadic racism has always been there. Just look at the names of newscasters and the number indian businesses and students in Britain.
The free passage Indian people whom left India on their own generally to Africa and elsewhere have made good of their lifes.
The indentured labourers lragely in Malaysia however were stuck in the rut because of various reasons including bad breeding, lack of education as well as termination from mainstream life in the estates has almost killed them.
Unlike the Chinese who come from predominantly Han Chinese and peasantry background, The Indians come from a wide variety of background, the social strata in India and invasion of muslims and the british further eroded the indian social order.
Though there were merchants, goldsmiths, financiers, architects etc Most of the Indians who were brought here to Malaysia were from the backward class.
The British made some mistakes at the beginning such as bringing the wrong indian groups to Africa which later led to mobilisation of political force and non cooperation economically. The British quickly learned from this they began to learn that Indians are deeply divided by class according to work.
So they only brought dark skinned mostly people with no relatives and real downtrodens to the country.A lot of people were also duped into coming here with promises of working in the rose gardens.
I alss read they even checked their palms to see whether they are rough enough to make sure they send the right stock to work in the plantations here. Some good groups also followed through via beating the tough recruitment system. This groups can be found in certain towns where you will find alot of Indian businesses, but their fathers were estate workers.
The English also recrutited clerks and officers from Kerala and Sri Lanka. These people were English educated and came voluntarily. Many of them held governemnt positions and their children are mostly well positioned today in malaysia and abroad.
After independence in India people who have been left behind were accorded affirmative assistance. The Indians needed to build an all inclusive economy after suffering agrression under muslim rule and later the British Empire.
Affirmative action is helping the all backward class move forward in Indian of course not without opposition.
The Indians here are probably suing the British for bringing them here forcefully and not protecting their rights. Because the British benefitted directly in the form of income as a result of Indian labour.
Whether or not it is the right thing to do I dont know. But the publicity churned out today and the embarrasment caused to the Malaysian government as a result is enormous.
One more thing never in the history of this country I have seen so much of anger towards MIC and directly the government.
They came like as if there is nothing to loose. They have been let down numerous times by people like Samy in MIC, later IPF and other parties such as PKR and DAP were unable to awaken such energy. All of a sudden within 4 weeks the Indians have shed all fears to come out in open. Their hero Uthaya Kumar ! Even he could not believe it according to reports online.
MIC is losing ground at the momment. I interviewed a few people this morning who said there will never be another Ijok, there is no chance for MIC man to win in indian vote swing areas. Their voice is clear MIC is out. It has lost respect among its educated and now the grassroot support is waning.
Today India’s salaries are surpassing malaysian salaries for engineers, IT etc. We have lagging behind and are unable to compete because of racism.Indian labourers too dont want to come here anymore. Our salaries are considered too low and its better for them to work at home and stay with their families. China, Thailand, Vietnam and Indonesia is roaring. If we are unable to manage our economy properly through wasting talent and resources, our society will lag behind and we may have to go there to work one day.Already India is offering jobs to middle managers and engineers from Malaysia, just watch whats next. The wealth of the nations are changing so swiftly that if we are not competent and observe racial prejudices as a way of life like waving keris and practicig chinese only policy we will be finished soon.
I am not sure about the class action but it surely has shown that this generally peacefull barisan backing indians have shed all fears and took to the streets trying to make a statement of sort not so for the money I M sure but probably to be heard.
They tactfully used it as opportunity to circumvent the Malay sentiment by not hurting them. Since the Malays are very sensitive any request will be seen as attacking malays or provoking them
Of course they also felt that heir representatives for the past 50 years were not doing what they were voted to do this way they have sent out a strong message to the governement. ENOUGH YOUR POLICIES ARE HURTING.
BUDDHA DHARMA
So please vote the oposition in the next election but whatever the outcome, if BN wins, this must be dued to the dirty tricks of BN and election commission. If opposition wins, there is hope for democarcy. Despite all the injustice to the nonBumi, Indian especially but the 2nd richest man in Malaysia is an Indian. I don’t see we are going anywhere to our better future if the Malay continue to waive keris, the Indian continue to demonstrate and Chinese continue to just mind our own business. Nobody going to win at the end of the way for race based politic.
ng cheong keat is a cina pandi!why can’t u understand that any complains to an unfair, dictatorial government is utterly useless!the only way we can at least get people looking into our problem is by bringing in the media!do you know how much hype this rally has brought upon the indian community and hindraf!im in USA but even i got to know what is happening!everyone here is talking about it!i bet people all over the world will be talking about it!how long will it take for UN to get to know about this!how long will it take for world human rights bodies to get to know about this!just think out of the box u stupid chinese “tak tahu” moron!
Hi all,
A short note to remind all that sanity is endangered in Bolehland, please do your utmost to preserve whatever left of yours. :)
Calling others “STUPID”, “Pea-brained”, “Pandi”, or “u-stupid-chinese-taktahu-moron” is, perhaps, a reflection of your ability to participate civilly in a debate.
There are, of course, flaws in Cheong Keat’s opinions, which would have benefited from your kind counter-arguments. Sadly, emotional and downright rude comments have buried your “frog-under-the-coconut-shell” with another ton of bricks.
Be nice la, people, we know the country is in a lousy state, we know people are suffering, but are we to continue bickering over the mechanics of racial superiority while losing sense of what’s only appropriate and civil for Bolehland?
It is paramount to hold debates and conversation in a manner which conveys depth and class. This way we will become more mature human beings.
Hurling assaults I have found does not reflect well on the orator or writer. When you ovecome your emotions you will start emerging as a stronger person people will have respect for your opinion as well as you as a person.
Its like trying to do damage to the land because the earthquake has wrecked havoc on your life.Remember when you get angry you lose. Anger destroys the place it abodes because it is a negative force.
There are ways to behave at battle field, during debates or when you at home and in temple. Good society is governed by good conscience. When anger reigns you lose whether its a conversation, business or war. You can suck people’s power out if you know how to make them angry. This is strategy. Use strategy to strenthen yourself, you will emerge as a better person.
There are laws ” dharma ” you need uphold in speech and action gradually you will find more rigour and peace descending on you even at the battle field.
I am only sharing, because I care for you.
Buddha Dharma
I am very proud of the Indian People who stand up for their rights without fear after 50 years keeping silence and support MIC that can’t help them..
For a man -Keat who write some words that hurts Indian people, shame on him ! He does not represent all Chinese, so his opinion is only for him self..
Most of the Chinese people have good PR with Indian people, inclusive of Bnes people.
My parents are running bnes who employ 90% workers - Indian.. why ? because in that area, not many Chinese people and other races do not want that jobs.. so since I was a kid, I like to play with Indian kids and now, I like Indian friends very much as they are so creative and brave people that some Chinese, somehow should learn from them to survive..
Congratulation for your expression of freedom that draw international attention on last sunday in KL !
hai uthaya kumar very 10q 4 u,im so hapi 4 sir to addent tis kes .unggalu yengal support yendrum irrukum dont vari, perak makkal unggal support
ng cheong keat,
You need not to agree with what Hindraf is doing, but pls don’t use the “Stupid” word here. BTW, are you really Chinese, or just using a Chinese to stir up racial issue here?
I think this is a smart move to bring the issue to international attention.
Probably your brain in too small to understand the objective of the rally. (or you think sending the petition to MIC is a better solution ?)
BTW, I am a Malaysia Chinese, and I support Hindraf’s action.
Well done. Hindraf(and BERSIH)
I felt soo proud watching my people showing their unity on Aljazeera and CNN.It is about time that we showed this “APERTHEID” government that the people are so fed up of things. And to MR.Chong Keat, you are not going anywhere with such comments. You only show how selfish you are.The main idea about the 1 million per person is to direct enough attention about the plight of not only the indians but the freedom loving people on the whole.Maybe you live a sweet and worry free life. But there is more that just you Ng Chong Keat.I am not going to degrade myself by calling you stupid as we are not at the same selfish level as you.Kudos to Mr.Uthayakumar for having the guts to speak up.AT this point the worlds eyes is upon US!!! we have gained enough of attention and I hope that there will be more to do in the future…
It is so funny to watch a government which condemned south africa’s Apertheid policy, blatantly showing what “real democracy” is on CNN and Al Jazeera. It is even more funny when our Kerismuddin(the person who promised to kill all non malays with the UMNO keris) being the Malaysian representative to UN’s security council…
What a bunch of uneducated MORONS
It’s not just the Indians or the Chinese, the Malays are feeling it as well. At the end of the day , rich remains rich and poor remains poor. The middle class stands in-between.
I support the rally and i understand how they must/should feel. At the end of the day, it had nothing to do with 1 mil per Indian. IT was an excuse to demonstrate pain and suffering.
I believe in this theory ;
The leader get 2 pizzas. 1st pizza should be a large one and equally divided among the Malay, Chinese & Indian.
The 2nd pizza should be regular size to cater the needs of rural Malays due to the majority population count.
As for the rest of us here lets not argue . Lets show them who were are and what are we capable of. Work smart and hard for your own benefit.
At the end of the day , you need not be an astronaut to make the nation proud and gain “entitlements” to show you are the best among the rest!
Dear Ng C Keat , I understand what you are trying to say …you do have great points …but lets just find a proper way to present it to others - Thanks bro.
Thanks for the lawyers..who is fully supporting us…as wht the conversation of no hearted person, selfish n what ever negative thoughts they have n try to express unvalueable thinking..for this HINDDRAF…in simple word v couldnt be bothered bout it..
They can feel what v Indian felt in this Malaysia when they r in our Indian shoes..
Valge Indian…Born as a Indian ..Die as a Indian
I just cannot agree with the way the Hindraf fight for their right. I strongly support the BERSIH movement, it brings all 3 races toghether because we are fighting the injustice of our electoral system. It unite us.
Do you know how close we are on the verge of another incident of 513. With ten of thousands of Indian on the street versus the police, it just need a small incident to elevate this protest to another racial riot which may bring ultimate damage to all races.
I am not the believer of racial politics. You do not fight racial injustice this way. The Act of bring the British Queen to the pictue is down right insult to our King. I beleive in this era of globalization, racial politic cannot survive and will evetually fade away by itself.
It is sad to see the police hurting the protester but it is equally sad to see the police being attacked and critically injured by the protester. Nobody win in this protest. We all are losers.
Dear Freedom Lovers,
Here are some pics of the “MALAYSIAN EXEMPLARY DEMOCRACY”…in action…
http://elizabethwong.wordpress.com/2007/11/25/hindraf-rally-500-hundred-arrested/
Indians in the US are the wealthiest and most educated amongst all ethnic group including whites. Many are from the South. Over 10% of top professors in the top US universities are from India, the largest from any one country outside the US. Many are Tamils. So please stop stereotyping us.
In the US we do it without affirmative action and unlike the African Americans and Hispanics, and the Malays we suffer from affirmative actions dysfunctional side effects. The Malay majority and Chinese ethnocentrism collude with each other for favours.
Dear nck,
Aside from hurling the tear gas canisters back at the police (which is, frankly speaking, quite an understandable reaction if only to get the canisters away from themselves - why did the police need to fire them in the first place anyway?), I would really to know in exactly what way did the protesters injure the police considering how hapless they were in comparison.
Even the claim in NST that the crowd vandalized the temple in Batu Caves is far-fetched and hard to believe. Hindraf has fought all along for the preservation of Hindu temples throughout the country, and now the media wants us to believe that their supporters vandalized their most sacred and important temple in Malaysia. I’m sorry, but only an ignorant fool will believe such an allegation.
All things considered, while I agree that nobody won in the protest, the Malaysian government came out as bigger losers. It was, for the lack of a better parable, the equivalent of a pie in the face to the current government who have now lost quite a bit of face in the eyes of the international community (the democracies, that is..).
Even Samy Vellu is forced to insist publicly that he has not lost touch with the Indian community, but I honestly don’t think anyone believes what comes out of his mouth these days.
Each time a peaceful street rally occurs and the government fights it back with force, it is undeniable proof that the current regime is oppressive and undemocratic - no matter what they might claim. I would consider that the disruption it might cause to our lives a small price to pay for working towards ensuring a more transparent goverment and greater freedom.
And you know what India is the 2nd largest investor in the UK after the US adding 60, 000 new high value jobs into your economy according to Ernst &Young for the last two years in a row.
South India has largest GDP of the whole of India at (80%) and highest literacy at (75%0 led by Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka. They are the IT centers and private education the softer vedic culture . In the South the Hindu Muslim conflict and caste issues are not pronounced as in the Norte. So please get your facts right since you live in Malaysia adn just hrs away from Chennai and benefited from 1000 years of Indian contribution to this country’s cultural and economic development.

A Tale of Two Indias
Can the north ever catch the south?
…..The growing divide between the four southern states–Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, and Kerala–and the rest of the country is prompting the south to become increasingly independent. Angry that the region’s economic health has provided the central government with an excuse to limit federal funding, southern leaders are pushing for more decision-making power over education, employment, poverty alleviation, and infrastructure. “There can be no meaningful economic liberalization without decentralization,” says Andhra Pradesh chief minister N. Chandrababu Naidu. There are even murmurs of secession. “Our India, with no Ayodhya temple talk, no Pakistan, no Delhi, no rabble-rousing politicians,” muses an influential south Indian executive. “It’s seditious, but what a delicious thought!”
Of course, no one seriously expects the nation to split in two. In fact, north and south have been regions apart for hundreds of years. Northern India endured a series of foreign invasions, and as a result developed a vibrant but confrontational culture. Southern India, far from New Delhi and bracketed on three sides by the Indian Ocean, instead developed strong commercial ties with foreigners. Moreover, the north’s militant, caste-based brand of Hinduism is nothing like the south’s peaceable faith, the product of 60 years of religious reforms that eroded the power of the caste system and separated church and state. In the south, says Kamala Ganesh, who teaches anthropology at the University of Bombay, “the political and religious divide has already taken place.”
As a result, southern state governments can afford to be more pragmatic than their northern counterparts. Take chief minister Naidu. He travels the world with his laptop, selling investors on the virtues of his wired state. Locally, citizens can communicate with him through his Web site. Naidu and Karnataka chief minister S.M. Krishna have put a priority on liberalizing investment rules, cutting through red tape, and modernizing infrastructure. Naidu’s hardball negotiations with New Delhi won him approval last year to operate international flights out of Hyderabad’s airport. That means investors no longer have to travel through Bombay’s chaotic facility. Both Hyderabad and Bangalore are building new airports.
Foreign investors have endorsed south India’s rich business climate with their pocketbooks. Over the next three years, Lucent Technologies, Motorola, Texas Instruments, Cisco Systems, IBM, and Hewlett-Packard are all doubling their operations in Bangalore. “Bangalore was the natural choice for Cisco,” says S. Devarajan, vice-president of Cisco’s Indian global development center, the company’s largest such facility outside the U.S. “The corridors of power are very clean here.”
For its part, Tamil Nadu has managed to lure half of India’s auto industry. Among the main players: Ford Motor Co. and Hyundai Motor India Co. Hyundai opened a $615 million plant there in 1998 to take advantage of the state’s well-educated labor force, sophisticated infrastructure, and proximity to the modern Madras port. Hyundai India’s president, B.V.R. Subbu, recalls being pleasantly surprised when a water line for the plant was in place four days ahead of schedule. “The local government is very responsive,” says Subbu. “North and south are attitudinally different.”
Moreover, the violence in the north is forcing existing foreign and domestic investors in India to start hedging their bets–all to the south’s benefit. HSBC Holdings PLC has postponed its plans to open a branch in Baroda, Gujarat. “Political and economic stability is what companies look at when making investments,” says Zarir Cama, chief executive of HSBC India. “Governments that espouse that, strongly and sincerely, win.” The bank, which has been rapidly building up back-office operations in India, will now focus on southern India, creating 5,000 new jobs for the region by 2004. The World Bank has its India head office in New Delhi, but its back-office operations in Madras, the capital of Tamil Nadu. And General Electric Co., which has four call centers in and around Delhi, has expanded southward, attracted by the talent in Bangalore, where it is building its only research-and-development center outside the U.S., and to Hyderabad, where its new accounting back office is based.
The south’s growing critical mass is giving it extra clout in the capital. In fact, the man who launched India’s economic reform program in 1991 was India’s first southern Prime Minister, P. V. Narasimha Rao. Subsequent coalition governments have found key supporters among southern regional parties. These, especially Naidu’s Telegu Desam party, have not hesitated to use their influence. As a religious moderate, Naidu has shown his displeasure with the Hindu nationalism of the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party. After the Gujarat riots in February, Naidu refused to send his representative to New Delhi, and says his continued support is dependent on the government adhering to a secular line. In early March, when the fight over the temple in Ayodhya nearly turned ugly, the southern leadership sent the respected religious leader, the Shankaracharya of Kanchi, to help find a peaceful solution. His presence was a pointed reminder to the BJP that the south represents 180 million Hindus who prefer to co-exist with other faiths.
Such progressive thinking has caught the attention of northerners who yearn for the south’s prosperity, tech industry, and peaceful way of life. Even the chief minister of the communist-run state of Bengal is talking about making it the “IT capital of India.” Clearly, in the future the central government will be under increasing pressure to make sure that the southern model of a modern India spreads to the rest of the country.

thankx 4 d chinese people over ther 4 supporting our indians…me oso one ofthe indian…we are not fight for the money but we are fighting for our equal rights oni…please try to understand our feelings…dun jus blame our indians..
NEGARAKUKU! I am a true Malaysian Chinese, past, present and forever. The “Non-Bumi” or “Non-Malay” or more accurately “Non-Umno Cronies” have to be self reliance politically, economically and socially. Deeply sorry with the UPSR girl who committed suicide lately, The minority is always affected when anything or something is implemented, either quoto or meritocrasy. BTM, Please forgive Ng Cheong Keat for his ‘kiddie mind’, The ‘tongkat’ of NEP is being used now to beat people. Bravo Hindraf ! You have done something for all of us to hear and act. Beware of ISA ! Please look upon the great Mahatma Ghandi’s spirit. Malaysia, Truely Malay owned in asia and in the world.
Bolstering other people’s achievement does not help much. Discrimination almost exists everywhere, the point is how to find the solution and if not is how to reduce it. Furthermore this is Malaysia, it is irrelevant to compare it with other places due to various differences. The real problems are, in Malaysia each political party clearly stands for each races (directly and indirectly). These political parties are promoting division instead of the unity among “Malaysian”. For the meantime this policies has successfully instilling fear among of its supporters, thus creating the Malaysian Chinese, Malaysian Indian, Malaysian Bumis and Malaysian Malay. Divide and order as you might say it, but this is not helping at all. If this problem is not cured, solution shall ever not come. Regretfully everyone shall not feel as one.
It’s heart warming to see some of our non-indian friends do understand the feelings of current malaysian indians and the reason for their frustration. Its not because of the money, but the awareness that is being created about the on-going marginalisation by the current UMNO government. At least if anything positive should come out of this, all of us will be able to lead a better and peaceful life knowing our future generation will be growing up in safer & harmony country of our loving Malaysia!
its so sad the way indians are being treated in malaysia…its time to take action…its time.
50 years…its consider long enough to be treated in such a way that no one is satisfied..
Pls fight for our Malaysian Indian Rights in a peaceful ways…Avoid violence..
The Victory will be urs my Indian frdns
God Bless
The sad truth of Malaysian racism is that the Chinese started the ball rolling and the Malays, who were very nice to start with, have reacted with Ketuanan, resulting in present racist Malaysia. So we must identify the source of problem ie goverment reacting to private sector’s discrimination. The only place where Indians gets fair opportunity to prove themselves is in multinational companies. If you see an Indian CEO in Malaysia, most likely it is a multinational company. We hope globalization will bring more equality to this nation and less frustration.
I have read NCK’s comments and feel compelled to write this.
Obviously NCK has not clearly understood the real picture and resons behind HINDRAF and its actions.
When places of worship; due rights over eConomy AND education is systematically eradicated- then it is time to question and contest this racism and sacrilege.
The matter filed in the Royal Courts of Justice is not for the money. Any intelligent mind will know that. Infact it is not even a personal grudge against England. It is the only way not to get the case thrown out or ignored; it is the best way to attract world attention to a very important matter that would not be solved within the country. The lawyers have BRILLIANT legal strategies and only stupid people cant see through that. Our ancestors, like yours had a choice to choose any country, but we chose this and this is HOME. We will fight for any rights that is duly ours. You would too when you lose your basic rights.
Many people who are Malays and non malays are in support of HINDRAF. They have no political agendas. Just a clean and clear conscience to uphold the TRUTH together.
It is sad to see majority of the readers here ageeing the strategy to win even though we know this is the lose lose strategy but it is ok as long as the other party (the givernment) is the bigger loser. Probably the hindraft should sent a petition to UN to ask for saction against Malaysia economically, I am willing to sacrifice with you all if this work. This won’t work, do anyone see any country in the world succumb to pressure of other countries? None! British , US and even India is not likely to take any action. The Inian PM probably just say a few words just to sooth his Indian community.
I think the more sensible steps is hindraft go full force to sungai siput and make sure Samy Vellu lost his Constituency and sent our PM a strong signal.
Mr. NCK,I will agree with regarding one thing what you told was “make sure samyvelu lost his constituency and send our PM a strong signal”. That’s any how going to happen. But for your words reagrding INDIAN PM say few words to sooth his indian community was not strong. Because in 2003 there were attack on foreigners (major raids for illegals). but infact the immigration pfficers arrested 334 legal employees also nad not releasing. once the then INDIAN PM Mr. VAAJPAYEE and Andhra Pradesh CM Mr. N.CHANDRA BAABU NAIDU spoke to Our PM Mr. BADAWI , no choice our PM apologised to them, you know y, the fact was MALAYSIA was depending on INDIA in so many trading regions, cannot lose those grounds.Anyhow it was a great movefrom HINDRAF, becos one person should start the scratch as right now hindraf started. Mr. NCK a small eg., for you. As our saying “MALAYSIA TRULY ASIA” it resembles that multi racial which includes all the races in Asia. But i bet you if you can talk about malays loudly, when you are sitting with your frends in a restaurant or any public place. We cannot rise our voice bcos scared of ISA. When it was multi racial country and democratic ones why can’t we. Its jus a small saying for you that we are been suppressed in this country for no reason even though we got talent.
ok
MR CK NG, you are right we have to deny samy velu in sungai siput.According to tamil osai( tamil daily)which have done a survey on samy velu who is MIC chief for 30 years.SAMY has swindel most of of the grant given to malaysian indian by malaysian government.Starting with 100 million telekom shares, maika shares, and so on. I want Pak lah if he is dare to tell the truth on how much grants given to MIC during SAMY VELU TENURE. STATE HOW MUCH WAS GIVEN AND WHEN IT WAS GIVEN.DID THE GRANT WHEN TO THE INDIAN COMUNITY OR TO HIS POCKET HOW MUCH WENT TO HIS SON AND SAMY “S CRONYS.INDIAN COMUNITY DONT NEED SAMY VELU ANYMORE.ACA SHOULD TAKE ACTION AGAINST SAMY VELU HIS SON AND HIS CRONIES.SO THAT WE INDIANS WONT BLAME UMNO AND BN.
To release 334 Indian national is nothing, it was just a goodwill of the Malaysian government for the Indian government.
But to change policy and risk angering the Malay is another matter, I don’t think the PM or UMNO is going to risk this even though they may anger the Indian government.
The hindraf probably already have some negative effect (there is an article in harakahdaily on this) that the Malay may swing to UMNO because they see this demonstration as threat to the Malay.
As I said before, racism is going to breed more extreme racism and at the end of the day, nobody win. The smaller community will probably be sacrifice to safeguard the bigger community.
The correct platform would be like BERSIH which it unite the 3 major races against the injustice by the government.
[…] http://bolehland.com/2007/11/24/hindraf-some-thoughts/ […]
It’s my karma to be born in Malaysia as a Indian Hindu. I used to feel sorry for myself. But now, I feel so proud of my community(especially my HINDRAF LAWYERS) which is brave enough to voice out the dissatisfaction.
I stopped eating meat coz I want to treat animals equally. They have right to live in this world. Who am i to kill them or give ill treatment. Even animals receive good treatment from a human-being. Why shouldn’t indian minonity in Malaysia?
For some, who do not understand about hindraf’s struggle to fight for indians’ right, please excuse yourself from this discussion before getting hurt.
In western countries, a white christian person will fight for anothe muslim person. But in Malaysia, will a Malay or chinese fight for indian. Never in history. We indians have to fight for ourselves. And that’s what hindraf is doing. It has drawn international attention. We are not aiming for a single pound sterling from Britain. But the pressure toward so called democratic country, Malaysia.
HINDRAF, DO NOT GIVE A DAMN ABOUT OTHERS. LET OTHERS CALL US RACIST. AREN’T THEY? SO WHY BOTHER? GANDHI FOUGHT FOR INDIA. WAS HE CALLED RACIST? ONLY PEOPLE WITH SHALLOW KNOWLEDGE AND THREATENED WITH YOUR MOVE WILL CONDEMN. MY FAMILY’S SUPPORT IS ALWAYS FOR U. OM NAMASIVAYA.
‘For some, who do not understand about hindraf’s struggle to fight for indians’ right, please excuse yourself from this discussion before getting hurt’
That’s why racism is dangerous, the racist like hindraf and supporter will not tolerate other people alternative opinion. They even threaten to hurt people who do not agree with them. That’s scary and sad.
cheong keat,
why is it scary and why is it sad? your apathy in seeing the indian issue in isolation is fine example how non-indians (who honestly, really don’t understand the indian problem) are not willing to listen to their plight and to act for them can be seen as a form of racism, no?
you mentioned for ‘three races to unite in fighting the govt’ … here’s your chance, reach out and embrace the indians in understanding their issues. why be afraid?
labelling them racists is perpetuating the matter further. as much as you expect hindraf supporters to be tolerant of your alternative opinion, you must tolerate them too.
nobody is racist here. we are all just looking out for our own interests. just like you.
Dear Anaktiri,
You said:
The lawyers were brave, and the people who marched, just as brave. But did you march for “COMMONWEALTH ETHNIC INDIAN PEACE LOVING SUBJECTS IN MALAYSIA PERSECUTED BY GOVERNMENT BACKED ISLAMIC EXTREMIST VIOLENT ARMED TERRORIST …” specifically, or for other, more innate and pressing reasons? Because last time I looked, I didn’t see any Islamic extremist violent armed terrorists around our neck of the woods.
You further said:
I admit, I don’t quite understand Hindraf, especially after reading the memo. Reading Michelle’s post makes more sense to me. And in spite of trying my best to understand the Indians’ plight, I felt a frisson of anger there when you said that those who don’t understand should excuse themselves, lest they get hurt. Hurt how, dude?
You ranted further:
A set of assertions made without proof, mate. I, for one, will fight for you if I believe in your cause (which at the moment feels slightly confusing to me). I won’t take up arms for it, but otherwise, I’m game. After all, if I take up arms, I might be labelled an “Islamic extremist violent armed terrorist”.
The point here is, there are better ways of doing this and while the plight of the Malaysian Indians is undeniable, it is not worth it to continue in such a sectarian and communitarian manner.
You’d be surprised at the number of Malaysians who are willing to help — that is, to help fellow Malaysians.
I heard the voice! The voice of slaves (Non Malays) under Master (Malay - Ketuanan Melayu). The voice after being mute and patiently bear unfair polarization for decades. Once these idiots behaved so fair fighting against apartheid policy in South African. Ironically, they are using same policy to rule this country. Don’t use the words “Bumiputera” as they are actually not belonging to this people’s group! The native people is more gentle and brilliant. Most of are Indons descendants. We are all knowing well these. New Economy Policy (NEP) is just a idiot plan, and they forced us to receive it without any dispute. They are actually making fool of us. There is no nay race in this world so naive and stupid. Lack of transparency of this policy will not be accepted. Damn idiot dictator asking you to comply their command to accept it. Do not insult our intelligence to accept barbarian and idiotic decision. Enough insulting yourself being handicapped (as confessed by Dr. M - The Malays’ Dilemma). Really feel shame and no words to describe their idiotic acts. After 30 years of implementing NEP, you so called Non Malays have to be patient treated unfairly in many aspects. We know this country in the real context since we were children. We are bloody migrants coming here to robe their wealth. Yet, another 100 years for you Non Malays to be discriminated in this lovely country as they claimed that they have not achieved 30% equity share. Can you believe the “truth” stated by them?
I HAVE A DREAM. A DREAM ..EH.. BETTER TO GO TO SLEEP. SWEET DREAM TO ALL!!!
Unless hindraf drop the hindu and religion in their agenda, I will never support them. They only way for them I see is to go to the extreme form in their struggle. God knows what they are capable of, I am really worried that thaey might want to make Malaysia like in Sri Lanka
News update:
Samy Vellu was defeated the Sungai Siput election and he was angry, he setup a new party called PARTI UNTUK KAUM INDIA MALAYSIA. (PUKIMA).
Chua Soy Lek also defeated and he also set up a new parti call PARTI BANGSA CINA DAN INDIA. (PACIBAI)
Malaysian police is right in its argument about HINDRAF’s association with global terrorism.
HINDRAF is inspired and remotely controlled by India’s Hindu militant group called RSS. The traces of their criminal saga was at the peak by killing Mahathma Gandhi. After that RSS orchestrated plenty of communal riots through out India targeting Minorities and dalits.
An American research centre has placed India’s ultra-nationalist Rashtrya wayamsewak Sangh (RSS) on its terrorist list. The East Virginia-based Terrorism Research Center (TRC) is closely connected to the American government and many of its directors and researchers have closely worked with US administrations and have taken part in research and planning for the US administration. In the list of in India, the TRC has placed RSS under no. 21. Here is the link as it appeared on 9 September 2004 on the group’s website under the caption “Known Terrorist Groups Operating in India“.

As i scower the replies i often stumbles on quotes comparing malaysian indians with indians in the UK and US. I find this perplexing because the well-do Indians always leave their own countries for greener turf. In doing so, they neglect to return the blessings they receive from the community originally.
The ones that should be blamed are those people who got rich and neglect to contribute back to the community. This are the reasons on why chinese and indians are so different economically.
Even in India, these capitalist minded individuals cause a huge gap between the rich and poor. But the chinese in contrast had a huge sense for community. They set up education fund, business funds and employ people from their own community (blaming the chinese for their adverts are pointless).
There is no use blaming the government. Nor in holding protest. The Chinese had realized that. It’s time for the Indians to undertsand that too before more blood are shed. The government will not tolerate protest against them and their policy and will go at lengths to stop it.
Indians should try improving their community first. As Indians are minorities in Malaysia, Hindraf actions are futile and unnecessary. History has proven that minority protest only leads to more serious backlash especially in a country as ignorant as Malaysia. The jews are discriminated everywhere around the world yet they still manage to hold the world in their palm. Examine yourself first before pointing fingers.
G’day,
The past week has been awe inspiring. As I was surfing through the net browsing at the photos of the Hindraf rally: I had a sense of pride and belonging! My brothers and sisters stood there and made a point! Yes it’s a rediculous ask for trillions of dollars in compensation but it made people stand up and take notice!!! Stand up and say it loud!!!!!! The British Government owes some 300 trillion pounds in damages to the african slaves during the days of the Empire!
Brilliant and calculated like a true tactition!
Hindraf Rocks and I’m with you all the way my brothers and sisters!
I’m a malaysian Indian!!! and proud of it!!! Growing up in a country like malaysia was an experience on its own and I would never trade it!!! But years of lies that have been told to the rakyat by our politicians has to stop!!!
Why should our skin colour or religion be an issue. Aren’t we all the same at the end of the day!!!! So when Hindraf rocked the house for demanding rights for our Indian community it struck a chord with a lot of people, myself included!!! This will open the minds of the thousands of ignorant people who are still living their everyday lives thinking that this country is better off under a government that segregrates openly!!! We have to unite as a people!!! Rise to the tyranny that is the shambolic and distasteful government that is “leading” our country into racial disharmony!!! Kissing a keris and waving it to an audience was no different to when Hitler raised the ground in Germany in 1938 demanding the extermination of Jews!!!
Hindraf I’m with you all the way!!! You have made me truly proud!!! We will not sit back and be told to take what is given to us!!!! We are not going to leave this land we all call home!!
It’s about time something be done for the thousands of under privelidged malaysian indian people out there who have had nowhere to turn to!
The movements demanding winds of change of late must be ruffling more than a few feathers in parliment! The rakyat have a voice !!! It’s about time we be treated fairly!!!
Hidup Hindraf and proud to be malaysian!!!
hadron: Very well said. To blame others for your own failure even though your are in unfriendly enviroment is just a big excuse. Please don’t blame other because your are poor. If the Indian community can have the 2nd richest man even in this country which practice ‘aparthied’, this just show that if you got the will. Hindraf just make everything worse and trying to turn the poor especially the uneducated one to becaome extremist. They even suggest to take up armed struggle.
Karunanidhi conned into supporting HINDRAF in ‘larger conspiracy’?

Interesting article. It is not written by Malaysian gov, it’s by Indian media.
Looks like there is a simple solution, vote barisan out at the coming elections. but there is no guarantee that those bunch of dap and pas clowns could do any better but it will teach that head clown badawi and his kris waving monkey a lesson.
I was invitied to give my comments on this issue. I think Indian people in Malaysia, their children, majority every where in Malaysia, their culture, their attitude, appearence look like they want to be a gengster (like negro in USA). Actually their are lazy, some of them “lepak” all the time with their group to take care their “area”, till they reach their age of 30 +++, nothing they cant do, to late already to built up their own family. At the end of the day their are poor. Most of their parent (Father), drunk all the time. What about their education? - Never read the book. Please, don’t blame the government, blame your self because you are lazy. Your people talk too much but nothing done. This is true. Your people is good in creating this type of event. Look at chinese people seldom you cant see their children “lepak”, most of the time you can see them read a book eventthough at Bus Stop or you cant see them on the way to the kolej. Look at their parent (husband and wife) work hard very hard eventhough they are sub-contractor or normal worker. Therefore don’t shift the blame to others or purposely came out with issue to close your weekness. Sorry.
porah jangan sampai parang terbang memenggal leher
barulah dinamakan etnic cleansing bumiputera di sabah & serawak lagi susah tak mengada gada duduk di malaysia berpuluh tahun cakap bahasa malaysia pun tungging terbalik jadi kalau rasa malaysia ni tak okey berhijrahlah kemana tempat yang paling adil tiada siapa yang nak larang tak payah nak bising bising tak sedar dek untung
dpandan: Good comment. I had the same view but afraid to say because those hindraf will label me racist and will try to ‘harm’ me given their extremist view. Yes they are simply lazy. There are so many successful stories of Indian that they should follow. Ananda Krishnan is one of them.
Poor malaysian : I think you better change your code name is not good. I’m sorry, I am not racist, a lot of my friend is Indian, My bos is Indian. There are very good friend. They are not part of this issue. I met their family. Actually they are the poeple who want to change. Actually the opportunity among us is same. It up to us to grap it. One more think that I need to express here, is that. If we are notice in early 70th to 80th, Malay people is very poor and most of them lives in kampong, they are very proud and happy with their culture and life style. However after the recession in 1984, most of the new generation started moves from their kampong and started with new life in town, looking for opportunity to upgrade their life. Including women worked at factory. Some of them use their own money to pursue study from private college in order to compete with others to get better income. Now they be able to support their family and also to help their brothers and sisters. Therefore, Indian people need to change in order to upgrade their live. Actually is not the government or other person or races, its our self..
Please… maintain our harmony and good relationship. Don’t do it, please.
Invoking ISA further points to the dark side of fundamentalism in politics. When a professional approach cannot be thought of in handling a crisis situation then a cheat card(ISA) is being used.
Why is no one talking about the REID COMMISSION ?
Politicians and law keepers should attend 101 courses in problem solving for a win win situation for all Malaysians. When you have academic failures who are the decision makers, it is scary. Just reflect on this. What will happen to the country when the Petro-dollars run dry? Will the current leadership meet their test?
British is waiting at the sideline for major racial clash in Malaysia, then the “Mat Salleh” can continue his rule like before, wake up Malaysian, your country is 50 years old, but your mentality is 5 year old.
It is pointless to work hard like other successful Malaysians , it is much better if the British pay each one of us a million dollar, for making our ancestors their cheap labor during colonial period.
The funny thing is that the Malays from Riau are only a small percentage of the actual population. The rest are a melting potpourri of various races inluding pro-negrotos.So you have the base group Yunnan chinese,Indon groups, the bujang/langasuka Tamils before the migration of the Tamil workforce with the British East India Company. The height of heights is the leadership of HINDRAF is related by marriage to DPM that takes the cake.So much for being a Malaysian.
Why are no UMNO ass…able to explain REID Commission? Why talk about ISA without being able to quantify their reasoning for NEP? Fifteen years had been over a long time ago and still now sucking the teats for milk.
Chadra,by saying so you only confirm what
dim-witted selfish people like Ng Cheong Keat said was true.
I agree that we have to work hard to improve the people. But then again,The malays had alot of help..JPA..MARA…easy loans…5percent discount on housing prices..and god knows what else.
No disrespect to my malay brothers and sisters out there.
HINDRAF doesnt want malay rights to be stripped…WE JUST WANT EVERYONE TO ENJOY ALL THESE BENEFITS…
THERE IS NO INDIAN..CHINESE OR MALAY..THERE IS ONLY MALAYSIAN.ONLY WHEN WE START THINKING LIKE THAT WE CAN IMPROVE.
and as to what Mr.Ng Chong Keat said ..i quote
“Unless hindraf drop the hindu and religion in their agenda, I will never support them. They only way for them I see is to go to the extreme form in their struggle. God knows what they are capable of, I am really worried that thaey might want to make Malaysia like in Sri Lanka”
YOU PROVE YOURSELF AS A TYPICAL SELFISH LOSER…BUT I AM VERY SURE THAT WHEN WHATEVER HINDRAF WANTS SUCCEEDS YOU WILL BE BEARING THE FRUIT OF THE LABOUR,BLOOD AND SUFFERING….
Live to know that we are doing the dirty job!!!Grow up and stop wearing a skirt.
I am Tamil speaking Indian from India. I read all comments. Ethnic Indians in Malaysia and Singapore taking about human rights but you may not know how they behave here when their visit. Even they show off and talk in English to the village people. And always show themselves are rich in reality they are begging for jobs and food in Malaysia. When ever where ever possible those slaves used to disgrace us. Recent turmoil in Indian parliment is just because of few headless chicken. And also i want to point out there is vertical divide between Indians and parasite Indians in Malaysia and Singapore. No one here supports them. After all pancha paradais. If Malay, Chinese stand on one side and Ethnic Indian stand on another side i prefer Malay or Chinese because ethnic Indians in Malaysia and Chinese are cheaper than pick pockets.
Error: read like this
If Malay, Chinese stand on one side and Ethnic Indian stand on another side i prefer Malay or Chinese because ethnic Indians in Malaysia is cheaper than pick pockets.
