on the day that i was born..

English, Nat, Columns |

i doubt any angels got together :)

I originally finished a draft essay on Hindraf and all that.

But I guess it’s not every day that one’s column falls on one’s birthday :P

I read Hafiz’s recent piece and can’t help but feel a deep sense of empathy.

I’ve written before on how much heart it takes to care about many of the things that matter in Malaysia, and I know what it’s like to feel sick and tired of it all.

I won’t write too much on that now, except to say I feel you bro, and all those out there feeling the same way.

Instead, I thought I would do a quick review of things that I’m thankful for.

Polytikus is obviously the best place to start :) You don’t enjoy love like that without feeling a need to be thankful.. :)

I’m thankful for my family and their neverending support - even though my sisters have been out of the country for so long now I can barely remember their names (carol? beryl? something about bells? who knows.. :)

I’m thankful for my extended family too - cousins, uncles, aunts. They’re a delightfully goofy lot, really.

I’m thankful for my colleagues and rakan seperjuangan. We’re not as large a group as we wish we were, but thanks to them, it’s ok if every once in a blue moon one of us feels the need to shut down for a little while. Also, they work real hard - thanks guys!

I’m thankful for my boss. Lotsa people say rough things about him, and he’s a pretty demanding guy to work for, but after half a year, I can safely vouch for his integrity, intelligence and intensity.

I’m thankful for my friends at home and around the world, even though I barely talk to them anymore :(

I’m thankful for DotA and my fellow goofballs who, at 27, have yet to outgrow computer games.

I’m thankful for polytikus. You can’t possibly blame me for mentioning that twice :)

Hindraf and the rest of the world’s woes will have to wait for next time. Counting blessings is pretty fun.

The 5 stages of grief… getting over Fong Po Kuan

BolehGeneral, 19 Feb 2008

Fong Po Kuan decided to break up with us. We sent two of our buddies (LKS and LGE) to go and talk to her to try to get her to change her mind, and it looks as though they did try their best. But she remains firm… she thinks we should just be friends.

Prime Minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi condemned those Indians who wanted to sent roses to him. He said they are illegals and are holding a Hindraf rally.
So far, we had observed, the prime minister had accepted flowers and roses from Puteri UMNO and some other women.
We don’t know why the prime minister had conjured […]

Not going to take the words of the Devil anymore? But many others would still do.
“So, what difference can you make?” The cynic in you asks.
Making meaningful changes in politics is far more easier and safer than many people imagined.
Here is one way that you can make a difference by staying at home. Your […]
